Sydney Opera House – 45th anniversary

The world-renowned Sydney Opera House,  a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the major architectural works of the 20th century, celebrates its 45th anniversary this year.

This emblematic building designed by Danish architect Jorn Utzon is the result of an international UNESCO-UIA architectural competition held in 1956. It now hosts 2,000 performances and 11 million visitors each year.

On this occasion, the UIA pays tribute to the Sydney Opera House by publishing interviews with personalities close to this icon of modern architecture, including Louise Herron, CEO of Sydney Opera House, the Lord Mayor of Sydney and others.
